Florida Freedom Summer Sales Tax Holiday provides savings for anyone enjoying music, sporting, theater and other entertainment events. During this time, ticket purchases on eligible events will be tax-free under the terms outlined below.
Tickets purchased on Ticketmaster for live events held in the State of Florida from July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024 — including concerts and festivals, sporting events, plays, musicals, and other cultural events — may be exempt from sales tax. However, additional services purchased (such as parking, memorabilia, etc.) may not be eligible for a sales tax exemption.
Fans can purchase tickets starting July 1, 2024 through July 31, 2024 on eligible events taking place in Florida from July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024.
Tax rates are determined at the county level. Refer to the venue’s local sales tax rate to calculate the exemption on your order.
It depends on the type of ticket selected and the method of payment used at the time of purchase. In most cases, the tax exemption refund is processed within one (1) business day, but this can vary depending on your bank’s policies. This exemption may be:
- In the form of a “$0 sales tax” at checkout, if no tax was charged during purchase.
- As a refund to the original method of payment used at the time of purchase, e.g., a credit card, for the sales tax portion of the total order.
- As a gift card if the original method of payment was a gift card or voucher.
In many cases, sales tax is included in the total ticket price. The sales tax amount charged at the point of sale for eligible items within the order will be refunded within one (1) business day of the order processing to the original method of payment. Please note: Processing time may vary depending on local bank policies.
If tax was included in the purchase price, the confirmation email, as well as the online receipt, will show the full initial charge and will not display the tax exempt pricing. However, once the tax exemption is processed (typically within 1 business day), it will be updated and reflected on the receipt in your account under the line TAXREF.
Tax exempt eligibility is based on the date of the event when originally purchased. If that event is rescheduled to a date outside of the promotional period, tax will not be charged for that event.
Any additional charges to the order after July 31, 2024 are subject to the tax rate of the county where the venue resides and would not qualify for tax exemption.
